Pete and I bought a gorgeous home in Spokane right on Manito Park. The previous owner did a seriously fantastic job with restoring the original woodwork, floors, fixtures, etc., but reeeeally liked his wallpaper. He had done the dirty work of removing probably 4 layers of wallpaper and another 8 of paint, but the wallpaper had to go. When we moved in, we hired a great team to take it down, sand, mud, prime and paint. I can honestly say I had no idea how much work went into taking down wallpaper. And that if I had tackled it as originally planned, I would a) still be working on it eight months from now and b) have ruined the walls in the process.
These photos, and I'm sure many more to come, are a chronicle of "before" and "during".
The entry. Gorgeous light. But it trips the breaker anytime we turn it on. Rats. This is the only wallpaper we're keeping.
